WOULD YOU ORGANIZE A FOOD DRIVE FOR GOOD WORKS?
This year, Good Works will provide men, women and children struggling with poverty with more than 21,000 meals through five different Good Works initiatives. MOST of this food is donated to us. We provide meals every day at The Timothy House,  throughout the week at The Hannah House and a meal every Friday night to about 150 people. Also on Fridays' we provide about 40-50 families with 'take-home' food after Friday Night Life.
Right now, our food pantry at the Transformation Station is at an all-time LOW. This particular Good Works initiative is unique: We provide opportunities for people struggling with poverty to volunteer their time to serve others and in exchange for their service they get points to get things they need. It looks like this: People struggling with poverty volunteer their time to help people in Athens County struggling with poverty and receive points to go shopping in our pantry. They can also use their points for an appliance, furniture, automobile or a bicycle.
We are seeking volunteer groups to do a food drive for us right NOW. Would you pass the word? Maybe you know a group of kids or teens or adults who would like to help Good Works and the people we serve in this way.  For more information, e-mail us at goodworks@good-works.net or contact us by telephone.
If you call ahead, food can be brought to the Good Works property 7857 Luhrig Road. (594.3336 or 594.3339)

Thank you for considering this request!

Holiday Party Booth Hosting
Every December we throw a holiday party for over 100 of our Littles and their families. We provide holiday gifts, a meal, games, and crafts for everyone in attendance. The event is on Saturday, December 15th from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. Would your group like to host an activity booth? Past activities have included cookie decorating, card making, crafts, games, and interactive video games. Your group would provide volunteers for the event from 10:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. and supplies for the activity. Interested? Please call Tara Gilts at 740-797-0037 or 419-356-8524 for more information. If you cannot supply volunteers, your group could plan and provide supplies for the activity, and we'll have another group of volunteers facilitate the activity at the event :)

Host an Event for 25-60 Children
Is your group looking for a local service opportunity? Sponsor a Big Brothers Big Sisters Event! Your group would provide the activity, volunteers for the event, donate postage for the event mailing, and help design and attach postage to event invitations in our office. Past activities have included movie nights, bowling, roller skating, outdoor adventures, cookouts, pumpkin carving, crafts, and more! Our "Littles" love fun, safe, and healthy activities! We are scheduling event host groups for the following months: November, January, February, March, April, and June. Interested? Please call Tara Gilts at 740-797-0037 or 419-356-8524 for more information, or to schedule an event.

Holiday Donations and Gift Wrapping
Our annual holiday party is our largest event of the year, and we provide holiday gifts for every 5-17 year old child in our programs. This involves a lot of gift wrapping! Do you enjoy wrapping gifts? Do you have wrapping paper, tape, tags, or gift bags you could donate to our agency? If you would like to help wrap gifts, or if your group would be interested in collecting holiday supplies,  please contact Tara Gilts at 740-797-0037 or 419-356-8524.
