Big Brothers Big Sisters of Athens
Be a Big Sister, Big Brother, or Big Couple 

Want to make a lasting impact? Even change a life? Check this out!

Would you like to mentor a child for 2-3 hours a week for one year? Apply to be a Big Brother, Big Sister, or Big Couple. We are particularly in need of BIG BROTHERS and BIG COUPLES to work with boys in our area. Big Sisters may also apply, although it may take 3-6 months to be matched with a Little Sister.

If you would like to apply, please call Eric Long at 740-797-0037 to complete your application over the phone. Eric will answer any program questions you have, and schedule your in-person interview, a home visit, and a training.

Athens Student Action was formed to help students from Ohio University and Hocking College engage the wider Athens community through volunteerism and service. The Athens community and the surrounding area have a strong network of community organizations that provide support to the people of Athens County. Whether it is volunteering at the local food bank, holding a book drive for an under-funded school, or being a "big sister" or "big brother," you can help build a stronger community. You can leave Athens County (if you ever want to leave Athens County) better than you found it!

Ohio University and Hocking College students are a large part of what makes Athens County so vibrant. Students help to create strong community through art, music, academics, and service. Through new sponsorship from the College of Health Sciences and Professions at Ohio University, ASA is excited to see immediate growth in student volunteers. This partnership allows ASA and Ohio University students work together for a better place to call home.

Volunteering can give you a way to connect with the Athens community, do something that is emotionally-fulfilling, and get the work experience that is so important to future success.
